Shortages and Backorders
An item can go on a two-week *Shortage* when
- Too many stores are ordering that item from the same store
- A large quantity of that item was recently purchased
- The item was recently going through a Hype event
If these events happen while the item is already on a shortage, it can trigger a week-long *Backorder*.
Impact of Shortages and Backorders
If an item is on a *Shortage*, the price for that item will increase, but you will still be able to purchase it.
If an item is on a *Backorder*, you will not be able to purchase that item until the backorder ends.
In both cases, customer demand will increase for the duration since some rivals might not be able to sell until the shortage or backorder ends.
If you are able to continue selling through a shortage or backorder, you could make a nice boost in income!
Shop Around
Shortages and Backorders are specific to each Wholesaler or Importer, so if one store is on backorder, be sure to check for other options.
